This Month's Kicker

When I was in my 20s my father had taught me to play video poker on trips to Vegas. Now that Winstar casino in Thackerville Oklahoma is closer to us and is the largest casino in the world, we have started making day trips there to play video poker together again.
On this occasion I had made a late night trip without him and was playing Hot Roll deuces wild poker on the 10 cent denomination, 10 handed, for $10 a spin. At about 1AM I hit a 10x hot roll multiplier and all of a sudden the machine locked up and there were hearts and flames everywhere. It took a minute to realize what was going on.
The machine locks up when you're dealt a royal and from there it just starts counting up slowly. My biggest jackpot to date was $1800 and at this point I couldn't even do the math so I just watched the total slowly count up to $40,000.
The slot host came to pay me and said that these 10 cent denom machines weren't supposed to pay that much, but they did count out 4 bundles of $10,000 stacks of 100s..and then they just left me there standing all by myself with so much cash that wouldn't even fit into my pockets. Of course I called my father who was fast asleep in bed and wouldn't see these pictures until the next morning. |
